Discipline WIG: We reached our discipline WIG again with 20 referrals in the month of April. Awesome work team! We will be sending details on how we'll celebrate in the near future.

Staff meeting: Monday, May 9th at 2:45pm.  We will be discussing clustering and the process for rosters. Only certified staff members need to attend.

SIT: Monday, May 16th at 3:00pm in the Platform.

Paper supply is low:  Just a reminder to be conservative.

Summer Achievement Academy (SAA):  All teachers and staff participating in SAA will be meeting at 3:30 immediately following the staff meeting on Monday, May 9th.

Summative reviews and PDPs: Summatives and PDP meetings continue.  If you missed your scheduled time, needed to reschedule, or have not yet had your PDP please set a time this week to meet here.

EOG training:  May 12th, 2016 in the Platform.

National Nurse Appreciation Day:  We are so fortunate to have Nurse Phillips here at Bullock.  Her sweet spirit and kindness are such an asset to our students and staff.  Please join me in celebrating Brenda on May 11th for nurse appreciation day.

Battle of the Books:  Please cheer on our 4th and 5th grade Battle of the Books teams that will go head to head with the other elementary schools in the county on Thursday and Friday of this week.  Thank you to Taylor Bradian for his leadership and guidance for these academic competitors.

Special Olympics:  Also please cheer on our special olympics competitors this Friday, May 13th.

Instructional Assistant Evaluations:  All teachers with TAs should have submitted a TA eval and set a meeting time. I am still missing quite a few.  The teacher's assistant evaluation form is provided here.  Please set a meeting using the scheduling app.  All meetings should be set by Monday.  I would like all TA evals to take place by May 20th.

Action teams and SIT:  As always, we want to provide choice and voice in determining our action teams and big rocks.  We will complete a muti-step process to determine staffing this year.

  1. Review the updated and scrubbed action team list.  Consider where your talents and gifts would best be put to use.
  2. Vote for SIT for EC, TA (x2), 1st and 3rd.  Please be reminded that SIT team members are also grade level facilitators.
  3. Choose grade level rep for AIG/RtI.  Enter name here.
  4. Choose grade level rep for data team. Enter name here.
  5. Choose grade level rep. for curriculum and instruction. Enter name here.
  6. Folks who are not on a committee will choose their big rock

Office logistic changes:  Please take note of the following changes for submitting forms and requests to the office.

  • Work order = Email Jennifer Welch, Jennifer Babb and Melissa Dickens.  No work orders will be accepted verbally.  Please submit via email.
  • Educational leave forms = To Jennifer Babb
  • Accident forms = To Jennifer Babb

Umbrellas:  Please make sure you put down and secure the umbrellas in the courtyard after use.  One ended-up on the roof this week after a strong wind gust.  :)

Student supply lists:  Please start working on student supply lists.  The formatted supply lists from 2015-16 have been shared with you.  Update and email the complete lists back to me.  Please include copy paper.  Please do not alter the formatting so the lists are consistent.  I will change the open house information at the bottom.

Staff supplies:  Start planning for supplies you would like to order for next year.  Melissa will begin work on those orders first thing this summer.

Field trips:  Please make sure parents are notified in writing if students will be attending a field trip off campus.  We should be seeking consent for all field trips.  There is a space for general permission on the student's registration.  That is not always up-to-date.

Engineer tickets:  Don't forget to reward leaders for going above beyond.  Please continue looking for those leaders and celebrating their efforts with an engineer ticket.

Environment:  Please take note of the environment in your rooms and throughout the school including the smell.

Leave requests...IMPORTANT:  Please make sure to submit all leave requests until the end of year (June 13th) by May 9th.  This includes personal leave, leave without pay and FMLA.

EVAAS verification:  The teacher verification window is April 23-May 20.  We will discuss EVAAS verification briefly in the staff meeting on May 9th.

Silence in car pool....reminder #2:  Please make sure to remain silent while moving through the area where our car riders are waiting for their cars.  It is hard to keep the students quiet if the adults are talking.  Thanks for your help with this matter.

Clean pods:  K and 1st grade teams, please take some time to clear the clutter in the pods and give the tables/cabinets and wipe down.  I know some 5th grade leaders that would LOVE to help.  Let's synergize!

Absences:  Please remember it is a requirement to let Melissa, Wendy and I know if you will be out.   We must know who is out to ensure there is adequate coverage for classrooms as the students arrive. If at all possible, please prearrange your substitute.

Master calendar:  Please let me know if your have any concerns, additions or changes to the master calendar for 2016-17.

Master schedule:  The master schedule is located here.  Please let me know final feedback.

PTO...reminder:  Please continue to encourage your students' family and friends to volunteer at the PTO Thrift Shop.  We are over 150 hours.  That means we will receive our PTO money.  WooHoo!  The more we work the more $$ we earn.

Instructional reminder:  In grades 3-5, we are using NC Ready or Coach JumpStart for review matching the rigor and length of the EOG.  The Performance Coach for ELA is also an option.  In math, we should be using NC Ready, stretch math and TenMarks (not FrontRow).  The released EOGs should be used for practice.

We will be getting new calculators from the county.  Lisa Foushee will be visiting PLCs on May 11th for a mini training.  Please include calculator practice in your instructional plan.
