  • Leaders on TRACK celebration: Twenty-one classes celebrated learning in the Depot on Friday (up from 15 last week).   The children showed such pride and excitement over their accomplishment.  At 21 classes, we were only 4 classes away from flying the Peace Flag and celebrating as a school.  That is exciting!  We had a marked decrease in discipline referrals this week.  That is progress and it is awesome!  Keep up the great work.

  • Spring Break: March 30th-April 3rd.

  • Safety Videos: Safety videos are due Friday, April 10th.
  • Instructional time:  Quarterlies are this week.  We have 8 weeks before EOGs and when we return from Spring Break we have 3 weeks before the EOY for mClass.  Giddy up!!!
  • Quarterly testing:
    • Testing will begin on Monday with 5th grade testing grammar/science.
    • Habit 7 classes will be on a normal schedule on Monday and Tuesday.  Classes will be on hold until testing is over on Wednesday and Thursday.  Thanks for making that happen Mrs. Perrell!!
    • The testing plan has been shared and may be found at the following link:
    • Please be mindful of testing as you move throughout the building.  Remember to keep the hallways silent so we can maintain a quiet testing environment.
    • On March 26th, 2nd and 3rd will be switching lunch times. Please discuss within your grade level to ensure everyone is aware of the changes.
  • Staff member of the month:  Don't forget to celebrate your colleagues by submitting nominations for staff member of the month.
  • 4H posters: New 4H posters have been posted throughout the building.  Please use that language when redirecting student behavior.  Thank you Lighthouse Team.  The posters look great.
  • Punctuality:  It is imperative that you are punctual when arriving to and leaving the Dining Hall.  All classes should be leaving the Dining Hall no later than 1:08, as noted on the lunch schedule,  so our Dining Hall and custodial staff can wrap-up clean-up each day.
  • Engineers:  We would like to start featuring our engineers on the news each morning. At this stage in the game, an engineer ticket should only be awarded to a child who has gone above-and-beyond to exhibit leadership not just doing what is expected.  It should be a great honor to be awarded a ticket.  If you spot a Engineer, please write the student's name, grade, teacher and quick summary of what they did to earn the ticket. Give the ticket to Mrs. Clarke or place it in my mailbox. Please tell the child to report to the news room with their ticket at 7:50am the following morning for a shout-out.
  • Reflection: Please follow the school-wide process of allowing students to reflect in your room first, then move to a buddy room, and then onto Behavior Junction.  Once moved to Behavior Junction, it causes the class to loss the opportunity to move on the Leader Board.  Students should not complete work in Behavior Junction (unless assigned ISS time).  Please use the new reflection format for K-1 and 2-5 only. You can revist the reflection blog posted previously on the Bullock process for reflection.
  • Leaders on TRACK:  We will pull the names of the classes who earned the reward at 3:00pm on Thursday.  If your train is not moved at that time, the class will not be able to participate in the celebration.  We need an accurate count at that time to plan ahead for the reward on Friday.  We are also using that data to determine the greatest areas of need.  We want it to be accurate.   Thanks for your help with this.  Managing the class's Leader on TRACK progress would be a great leadership role within your class.
  • Golden Ticket: Please return the any earned Golden Tickets to the teacher who gave it it to you for the week ahead.  Remember the Golden Ticket should be earned in all settings, all the time, by the entire class (minus the 1-2 students who may have derailed the class on the Leader Board).  It is good to work elicit the help of your colleagues if you need a Golden Ticket, but please continue to be discerning and fair when awarding the Golden Ticket.  If students earn a Golden Ticket for a medicore or off-track week, it will diminish the value of the reward.  Please work together to make this reward a true honor and something that requires the students to work together.
  • Tour guide comments:  Valerie Rodarte, Bailey Hunter, Logan Jordan, Emily Willis, Stephanie Cabrera, Elijah McLean, Rebecca Valasquez, Caleb Waters and Alex Riojas were tour guides on Friday.  The Community Group complimented the excellent job that the students did.  Such leaders!!!! Please send these students to the news room on Monday morning at 7:50am for a quick shout-out.
  • Detention:  Starting last week, students can now be assigned detention as a consequence.  Students may also be assigned detention if they are not on TRACK in Behavior Junction.  Please remind your students that we will continue to "put first things first" as we focus on academics here at Bullock.

Week 27:March 16-20

  • Compliments: The students behaved fabulously in the assembly on Friday due to your collective efforts and synergy.  The actors commented on the fact that the children were so well behaved....the BESTthey have seen. They also said that the students' behavior "saved the show" since the microphones were not working; the children were so silent and attentive it did not matter.  Kuddos to you all!  Mrs. Perrell and I would also like to compliment you all on the Dining Hall environment.  Every time we have visited the Dining Hall over the past couple weeks, it has been orderly and pleasant.  Well done team!!!
  • Instructional time:  We only have 12 more instructional weeks ahead (can you believe).  We have 9 weeks before EOGs.  We have 1 week of instruction before quarterlies and after we return from Spring Break we have 4 weeks before the EOY for mClass and 7 1/2 weeks to EOGs.  Thank you for continuing to maximize the instructional/learning time in your classrooms.
  • week for duty

  • PLCs:  Wednesday, March 18th in Platform 9 3/4 at 3:00pm

  • Accident reports:  Please give accident reports to Jennifer Babb.
  • Bengal Broadcast:  Please watch the Bengal Broadcast every day.  The news is part of our culture and it also has updates and reminders that are important for all students/staff hear.
  • 5th Grade Habit 7: Fifth grade will have Habit 7 class from 1:30-2:15 instead of 2:15-2:00 effective on Monday, March 16th.
  • Red bags: Please make sure your class roster is updated in your red bag.
  • Tour guide update:  The following students will be my tour guides on March 20th:  Valerie Rodarte, Bailey Hunter, Logan Jordan, Emily Willis, Stephanie Cabrera, Elijah McLean, Rebecca Valasquez, Caleb Waters (let me know if I missed someone).  I would like to have a lunch meeting with these students at 12:30 on March 17th.  Students should report to the front conference room.
  • New Behavior Junction specialists:  Mr. Gilmore and Mr. Gray will be starting in behavior junction this week on Monday.  Mr. Gilmore is a retired teacher and Mr. Gray retired from the banking industry.  They will be a wonderful addition to the Bullock family.  Ms. Hairston will be supporting classroom teachers to ensure that the instructional environment is maintained.
  • Leader on TRACK details
    • Every class has been provided with a Golden Ticket. A Golden Ticket can be awarded to another class to allow them a bonus jump ahead on the Leader on TRACK board.  The idea behind this is to give the class an incentive to work toward if a classmate(s) has dereailed the class.  A golden Ticket is a BIG DEAL.  Please confer with the teacher and specialists to be sure the class has earned it.  Please let Mrs. Ashworth know so it can be announced on the news.  Please return the Golden Ticket to the teacher the following week so it can be awarded again.
    • Mrs. Stone is creating a list of “high-flyers” to be paired with mentors.
    • If 25 classes are "Leaders on TRACK" (80%), then we fly the Peace Flag. When we celebrate (and I KNOW we will), the children who were responsible for the write-up/reflection CAN NOT participate (go to Behavior Junction).
    • Leaders on TRACK runs from Monday-Thursday at 3:00pm.  The Friday can be pulled at teacher’s discretion if the class does not remain on T.R.A.C.K.
  • Dining Hall reminders for our students (at breakfast)
    1. Be proactive and remain silent in the breakfast line.
    2. Be careful to not knock off trays and plasticware when you go through the line.  If you do accidentally cause an avalanche, pick up the fallen things.
    3. Sit in the required seating--
      • K-2--fill in where directed
      • 4/5 cabooses--two to a table on the far side of the table facing the 2nd grade hall
    4. Remember Only 4/5 cabooses eat in.
    5. If you spill, clean up.
    6. If you forget something, don't get up--ask an adult.
    7. Use a whisper voice, so we can still hear the lovely music.
    8. Eat quickly and head to class for a day of great learning.  (Many are staying 20 to 30 minutes--especially our older students.)
    9. Use your best manners by not talking with food in your mouth nor playing with your food.
    10. If an adult needs to help you get back on track because you are not being proactive, then be respectful and check your head, your heals, and your heart.  It's never too late to get on T.R.A.C.K.

  • PTO Thrift Shop:  The PTO thrift shop generously gives $5,000 to all schools who work at least 150 hours.  We need that money for our students, but are having trouble getting the hours despite an incentive.  The PTO would love your help in encouraging parents to work at the PTO Thrift Shop.  Please include a note to parents to help in your weekly communication.  It would be great to also mentioned this opportunity to serve during conferences or informal meetings.  Staff can also work at the thrift shop for hours (classified staff can use this for make-up hours).  Thanks for your help.
  • Translation:  Please be sure your parent communication is succinct and clear for all our parents.  It greatly helps with translation and is a good practice for parents who receive a lot of communication from the school.
