Upcoming meetings and events for March 7-11, March 14-18 and March 21-25.
The most up-to-date calendar is located online in Google calendar.
I do hope you'll take a few seconds to celebrate the great things happening at B.T. Bullock. Please remember that you too can add events.
Stop by Celebration Station.
The focus this month: Think win-win
We are on week 7 of our 7x7 contract.
Our first Leadership Day will take place on March 23rd. Parent day is March 22nd.
The audition results will be announced no later than Wednesday, March 9th. Our students did a remarkable job. Thank you to all the staff members who were on the audition team as well as the dozens of staff members who covered classrooms and chipped-in to help to make the Leadership Day auditions a success.
Please make sure your bulletin boards are updated as we approach Leadership Day. There are some blank boards in the building. Please use the bulletin boards to showcase rigorous and exemplary student work. Please make sure all bulletin boards are updated no later than March 16th.
Also please start planning your Leadership Day rotations. Please see a member of the Traditions team or Ally Roberts with questions.
More resources are located at the Leader in Me website.

Please revisit last week's blog in regards to levels of questioning to be sure you are increasing the rigor of questioning (aim for Costas 2 and 3). I did not notice discussions about the levels of questioning in your PLC minutes. Please be sure to etch out some time to discuss questions that are being used in class and for nightly reading reflections. We have less than 13 instructional weeks before the end of the school year. We need to provide opportunities for our students to stretch beyond their comfort level at this stage in the game.

Election on campus March 15th: We will hold an election on our campus on March 15th Teachers can do a provisional out-of-precinct vote at Bullock. You will need to show your ID. The 15th will be an optional teacher workday. Please do not park in the front two quadrants of the parking lot (directly in front of the front walk-way nearest the gym) on election day.
Bullock parking lot: Please remember that the front quadrant of our parking lot is reserved for guests every day. It one small way to live our mission by making our guest's visit more convenient.
Peer observations: Peer observers, please see the list of peer observations from Mrs. Perrell. Peer observations are due before we leave for Spring Break.
Lock-down procedures: Please review soft and hard lock-down procedures for a drill in the upcoming weeks.
Platform 9 3/4: Platform 9 3/4 is a busy place. We have two ESL classes, Read to Achieve, Intervention groups, AND Habit 7 media class operating out of that space. In order to maintain a quiet learning environment, our library needs to be a whisper zone. Whispering in a library is common courtesy for library patrons and a good habit for our students to learn. Please remind your students of this rule.
Recess: Please be reminded that teachers and TAs need to spread-out and supervise during recess time. The large majority of discipline write-ups and/or injuries occur during recess. For the 5th and 3rd grade teachers, please create a rotation schedule so that 3rd and 5th grade students have equal access to the playground and field. For the classes on the field, please remember to bring equipment for the students to play with every day. Mr. Martin can help provide equipment to keep our students engaged in fun physical activities.
Tornado Drill: I know we are ready for this one. The statewide tornado drill will be held March 9th at 9:30am.
Quarterly Tests: The week of March 14th.
Instructional Tip: Check out this PowerPoint on teaching academic vocabulary provided by DPI. There are tons of practical strategies to scaffold learning and provide context (and correlations) for academic vocabulary. Teaching academic vocabulary is an instructional expectation at Bullock.
IMPORTANT....Instruction at Bullock: Please remember the high-yield strategies that need to be included in your instruction. Please discuss how you are addressing these expectations within your PLCs.
