Teacher and TA of the Year Announcement: We will announce the 2016-17 teacher and TA of the year at 2:45pm tomorrow immediately before our action team meetings. Come celebrate with us!
Action Teams: Our action teams will meet at 3:00 in the Platform. All teams should have their agendas at this point from the action team lead.

Schedule Team: Thank you for submitting your schedule team names. I will be communicating with the team about the upcoming dates for our meetings.
Bus number change: We are switching bus 34 and 168. The routes will remain the same, but the bus numbers are changing. The buses will park in the spots where the students are used to loading their bus to reduce confusion. We will need your help ensuring that students who formerly rode bus 34 get on bus 168 from now on, and students who formerly on bus 168 ride bus 34. Thanks for your help.
Staff survey: Certified staff members, please complete the staff survey by April 17th [link here].
Books Needs: I would like to gather together The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People books to distribute to our new hires to read. If you are not currently reading the book, please turn-in the books to the library in the PD area. There will be a place there to collect the books.
PLCs: We will be sending some PLC coverage tweaks based on Ms. Ross no longer being here. The coverage changes will not change the PLC schedule. We will communicate with the folks impacted directly. The lunch schedule is available here [link here]..

PLC Parking Lot: K-3 Teams can reflect on the writing session with DPI and the implications in for our school within PLCs. I am so interested to hear your thoughts. For the teams that have a completed writing rubric, please provide a copy for our notebook and student work samples. Teams will be also finishing the conversation in regards to areas of need based on our item analysis.
Vertical PLC notes [link here].
- Create grade level rubrics for writing standards (start with EOY and then move to MOY).
- Determine ways for students to access and review new words/vocab (Interactive word walls, personal glossary, individualized review, etc.) every day.
- Create a list of grade level standards that need to be mastered by EOY for each grade level.
- Build in spiral review into lesson plans (centers, targeted games, etc).
4-5 PLCs, we will continue our book study with The Artisan Teacher. We have been analyzing the correlation of grades and assessments. Teams will be bringing student work samples this week to discuss expectations and grading practices for consistency.
Work arrival: Please arrive at work on time (unless you have a GOOBL - Get out of bed late coupon...we are making our way around to as many folks as we can). Our start time is 7:30 for everyone. I know you are all professionals and will be sure to report to work on time. Thank you to those of you that let me know if you experience an unexpected delay. That is much appreciated.

Monthly focus: Seek First to Understand and then to be understood
Our leadership showcase will be held on April 7th. It is going to be an amazing day for our student leaders. We will have a revised lunch schedule on April 7th [link here]. It is the same schedule we used last year on leadership day.
Ms. Waters and the leadership day team have done an incredible job gathering together resources and sharing the organizational details for leadership day. The links to "all things leadership day" can be found below. Thank you team for planning this event so thoroughly and carefully.
Taylor's notes from earlier in the week
Here are a few odds and ends...
1. Please make sure to practice the "scoreboard" song on the news. It is located here if you would like extra practice!
2. Please make sure your students/classroom are aware and ready for the big day! The goal is allow our students to share what we do at Bullock. This day is all about them. Classroom resources can be found here.
3. Make sure bulletin boards showcase student work and are relevant for our guests!
4. When your classroom is not being visited you can continue with normal instruction. About 10-15 minutes prior to the scheduled visit, you can make sure the student leaders are ready. The classroom visit will last about 8-10 minutes.
5. Attached is the student roles, schedule for the day, and the routes. The schedule shows when student leaders are needed and where. The routes will show when your room is visited. Please let me know if you have any questions.
6. Our "dress rehearsal" Leadership Day practice will take place at 8:30 am on Thursday April, 6th. The Leadership Day participants will practice greeting, tours, speaking, presenting, etc. The students will practice giving tours, but you can continue normal instruction despite their brief visits. You do not need to practice at that time unless you choose to do so. 1st grade students will be called around 8:30 AM to practice singing. The K-5 students will get an all-call when it is time to practice their singing part. This practice will include all performers and participants.
7. Leadership Day is April 7th! Guests will arrive from 8:30-9:00. The event starts at 9:00am and the first classroom visit is at 9:35. The folks reconvene in the Depot at 10:45. The rest of the school will get in place to sing our guests out the door around 11:00. All classes will eat lunch in their rooms. More information will be in the brief.
8. FINALLY Sharon Spence has sent out the electronic invitation. Please invite YOUR VIPs! Showcase your leaders!
